The Deputy Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, said the military institution cannot remain in chaos by any armed faction that are operating independently of the civilian authority; and the Chief Commander of the Libyan Army: Presidential Council.

Al-Lafi told reporters that the Presidential Council is responsible to keep Libya safe and away from wars and unify the military institution under a civilian authority, saying peace starts with respecting the interim executive authority of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum under the auspices of the UN Support Mission (UNSMIL), which has been approved by the House of Representatives.

He called on UNSMIL and the states that sponsored Berlin Conference to play a positive role to support the roadmap, unification of institutions and deterrance of the spoilers, urging the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum to help implement the roadmap by reaching consensus.

"We want to make the national reconciliation gathering a success along with the unification of the Libyan Army to pave the way for elections to be held on time." He said.

Haftar said this week that his forces won't be unde the command of any authority, saying they won't be part of conspiracies under the name of civilian state building.
