Vice President of the Presidential Council (PC), Musa Al-Koni, has discussed with the UN Special Envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, the developments related to the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) and the file of the upcoming elections, besides finding a constitutional basis for holding them on time.

The PC said in a statement that the meeting, which was held Tuesday in Tripoli, dealt with moving forward with the national reconciliation program as a way to promote civil peace and peaceful coexistence among the Libyans.

Al-Koni emphasized the PC's commitment to work towards achieving comprehensive national reconciliation within a specific timeframe and following the paths that guarantee the success of this mission.

He also stressed the PC's desire to hold the next elections as scheduled, calling on the LPDF members to agree on a constitutional basis that guarantees the organization of free and direct elections.

For his part, Kubis stressed the importance of focusing on holding elections and continuing to work on achieving genuine national reconciliation, expressing his satisfaction with the preparations made by the High National Elections Commission, despite the lack of a legislative framework for the commission.
