The State Supreme Council’s member, Mansour Al-Hasadi, called on the UN envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, to visit Derna and see the situation of the city first-hand.

Press Solidarity reported Al-Hasadi as saying that he told Kobler at his meeting on Sunday with the State Supreme Council, “If you do not have a clear stance toward what is going on in Derna, then you are a historical partner in the airstrikes that rain down on Derna killing civilians and frightening the safe residents in the city. Your tweets are not enough.”

“I gave Kobler a copy of the statement issued by the State Supreme Council’s Committee for Supporting Stability and Fighting Terrorism, which is related to a call for protecting Derna residents. I also gave him the statement issued by Derna Local Council that is related to the airstrikes targeting the city leaving behind a number of killed women and children last Thursday.” Al-Hasadi added.

He also urged Kobler to have a role and put some efforts in releasing the former member of the General National Congress, Sulaiman Zubi, who has been abducted for almost two years.

On Sunday, the Head of the State Supreme Council, Abdelrahman Al-Sweihli, held a meeting with the UN envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, at the council’s headquarters in Tripoli. During the meeting, Al-Sweihli and other members expressed that they denounced the airstrikes and targeting civilians in Derna.
