The media office of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos said its forces liberated Sunday afternoon the Indian buildings and advanced into neighborhood 2, which was one of the last hideouts of IS militants in Sirte after heavy clashes.

Earlier, the office said it foiled an attempt by IS to explode two bomb cars that were heading toward the Misrata-led forces who were advancing to neighborhood 2.

“Our forces entered neighborhood 2 and clashed with IS militants with the aid of our forces from the sea frontline, from where they shelled the neighborhood 2 with Grad rockets.” The media office indicated.

Sources from the Sirte field hospital reported that 9 fighters were killed from Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos and 74 others were injured and brought to the hospital due to the neighborhood 2 clashes on Sunday.

Two days ago, Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos announced the kick off of the “Macomedes” operation - named after the ancient name of Sirte city – to liberate the last hideouts of IS militants in the city.
