The Al-Bayda Council of Elders and Notables urged Wednesday the military governor of the east, Abdelraziq Al-Nathori, to appoint a military governor for their city just like the neighboring cities and municipalities.

In a statement they read in front of the Constitution Drafting Assembly’s HQ in Al-Bayda, the council members stressed that the municipal council must be disbanded as it has taken some illegal measures and decisions and has been involved in political issues outside the scope of the municipalities’ authorities.

“The municipal council has not shown any seriousness in dealing with the crises that pounded the city over the last period of time.” The statement reads.

Al-Bayda municipality has previously disbanded the city’s Council of Elders and Notables after the latter vowed to receive Saif Gaddafi, son of slain dictator Muamar Gaddafi, and host him in the city oif he was released.
