The Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, has affirmed the Union's keenness to support all national, regional and international efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and stability in Libya.

This came during his meeting with Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Manqoush on the sidelines of the 40th ordinary session of the Executive Council of the Union, during which he reiterated the Commission's support for Libyan reconciliation efforts, stressing the importance of the State of Libya as a founding member of the Union.

In the framework of strengthening the role of the African Union to work closely with national institutions in the transitional phase, both sides discussed reopening the African Union Liaison Office on Libya to work from the capital, Tripoli.

For her part, Al-Manqoush praised the attention paid by the African Union to the situation in Libya, and its supportive stance to achieve stability, which would lead to the success of the electoral process.
