The Advisor of Philippine President Abdullah Mamao arrived in Tripoli on Wednesday and met with the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sirraj and other officials.

Mamao confirmed in the meeting that the Philippines is willing to provide Libyan hospitals with medical cadres and to engage in training courses for the Libyan medics.

The two officials discussed issues of mutual concern including the rebuilding projects in Libya, in which the advisor said his country is interested.

Al-Sirraj stated the importance of the relations between the two countries, expressing hope for further cooperation in health, education and infrastructure, according to his media office.

“We appreciate the steady relations we have with the Philippines, especially that the medical cadres working in Libya have always remained in their positions favoring help to getting away from trouble during rough times.” Al-Sirraj added.

The media office did not say anything about whether the officials discussed the kidnap of the three Filipinos, but it certainly was a recurrent topic during the meeting since the President of the Philippines formed a ministerial committee of follow up on the matter.

Three Filipinos and one South Korean were kidnapped in July in Hasawna Man-Made River project.
