The Social Affairs Authority (SAA) of the Salvation Government (SG) has disclosed that it registered 30 thousand families, which had been all internally displaced in Libya over the last five years.

The Head of the SAA, Saleh Bughaffa, said in a presser Thursday that the SAA is continuing the registration of Abugrein displaced families, which fled the latest clashes in the district, pointing out that Bani Waleed city hosts the largest number of Abugrein displaced families.

Bughaffa added that the SAA has not yet received the 20 million dinars sum that was allocated by the SG to help and assist the internally displaced persons (IDPs), stating that the money is still stuck at the Ministry of Finance, which could not cash out the money for the SAA because of the decision to freeze the accounts of all state institutions by the UN-proposed government’s Presidential Council.

Meanwhile, many Libyan cities are playing host to a growing number of displaced families from Sirte and its suburbs after the expansion of the IS militants. Al-Khumus city received 317 families, Tobruk: 139 families, Bani Waleed: 2200 families, Zliten: 382 families and Tarhouna announced that it had also received 3000 displaced persons up until last Monday.
