22 members of the House of Representatives (HoR), have issued a statement expressing their surprise at the referral of the draft law on electing the present of the state without voting on it, considering it an obstacle to the upcoming elections due to take place on December 24.

The HoR signatories confirmed in a statement that they did not vote on this law in any of its previous sessions, underlining that no decision or law has, to date been issued regarding the matter.

They went on to confirm that what transpired in previous sessions was merely to discuss the law and refer it to the Legislative Committee for the purpose of preparing the final draft of the law and voting on it, which did not occur, according to the statement.

The members considered that this behaviour by the Speaker of the HoR, contrary to the regulations and systems in place, holding him fully responsible for this decision, considering it contrary to the temporary constitutional declaration and its amendments, the political agreement and the internal structure of the tasks of the HoR.
