The General Authority for Tourism has formed a working group under the name of "Access and Communication for People with Disabilities" consisting of 22 members of this group of persons.

The Tourism Authority explained that it aims to spread the concept of accessible tourism and identify the obstacles facing this group of society in tourism destinations and facilities, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

"The group of disability leaders will build guidelines, develop accessibility and communication standards, and will take a more active role in developing the tourism industry, through the Department of Support and Empowerment of People with Disabilities in the Authority," the Tourism Authority said.

The concept of accessible tourism, which includes all kinds of access needs is about bringing together lawmakers, public authorities, industries, disability NGOs to make sure that the tourist facilities are barrier-free for visitors with all kinds of access needs.

The authority emphasized that people with disabilities will be given a greater role in Libya's tourism industry, including taking part in exhibitions and activities in tourist attractions.
