The administration of the Man-Made River has announced emergency maintenance works at the main control valves at the Shuwairif station.

The administration said in a statement on Monday that the procedures start October 16 and end after 9 days, adding that the service works are extremely necessary.

Water will be cut for nine days starting next Monday due to the maintenance, it added, saying that the conditions undergone at the Hasawna water system over the last years, including attacks, vandalism, power outages and the like, badly affected the system.

"We call on all Libyans to cooperate and abstain from opening the water flow valves so that they commit to the instructions of the control room until the water flows back to cities as normal as before." The statement adds.

It also remarked that they are working with the General Company of Water and Sanitation to limit the impact of the water supplies' outage in the upcoming days.
