Agriculture and Cattle Sector in Gharyan organized Saturday a celebration of the Olives Day in the presence of many of the city’s residents and officials of agriculture in western municipalities.

The coordinator of the agriculture sector in Gharyan, Ashur Swaisi, said they delivered a lecture on the development of olive industry, and they launched a gallery for saplings of different olive types as well as traditional tools to trim trees and making olive oil.

Olives are considered basic agricultural asset for the city of Gharyan as olive trees with all their types take up the biggest area in the city’s plantations, according to Swaisi.

Gharyan municipality had already picked November 19 of every year to celebrate the Olives Day in the city, which has so far celebrated the event twice.
