The High Council of the Elders of Zintan said that Haftar-backed Al-Kani militia bears the responsibility of the assassination of a city's resident, who was kidnapped by the militia three months ago.

In a statement, the council condemned in the strongest terms the criminal acts carried out by the Kani militia, stressing that such acts are contrary to the precepts of Islam and the morals of the Libyan people.

The council deplored the killings and torture of prisoners and the mutilation of bodies by the militia, which it said contradict all international norms and laws, holding the militia the full responsibility for these violations.
