The Zawia power plant is back into service with a capacity of 270 megawatts after a week of disruption due to a clash that erupted between armed forces from Al-Zawiya and Warshafana in the Maya area last Thursday.

"The first and second units, as well as the first steam turbine at Al-Zawiya dual-cycle power station are now linked to the power grid after undergoing maintenance work," GECOL said in a statement Wednesday.

Clashes between two armed groups near Zawia city last Thursday cut off the steam unit from the network.

The company indicated that the new load would contribute to the stability of the network and hopefully reduce the load shedding in the West region.
