The seasonal influenza has claimed the life of its first victim in Al-Bayda city, east of Libya, the Thawra Teaching Hospital in Al-Bayda has confirmed.

The hospital's media office stated on Sunday that the deceased - a young girl - arrived at midnight on Saturday at the hospital in a critical condition, suffering from pneumonia, where she was immediately admitted to the ICU care.

The hospital pointed out that there has been a number of confirmed cases of seasonal influenza in Al-Bayda and areas of the Green Mountain, attributing the causes to the severe cold temperatures accompanied with the lack of kerosene and gas, in addition to the long hours of power cuts.
