A young girl died just a day after suffering a scorpion sting at her home in the city of Kufra, southeast of Libya.

Doctors at Kufra Hospital battled to save the life of Jannat Ibrahim, but unfortunately failed to do so.

This is the second child who dies as a result of scorpion stings within two months in Kufra.

Local activists said that the two children were stung at their homes, despite attempts of families to eliminate the threat of scorpions by spraying chemical poisons and spilling burned oil around their homes, however, the desert climate in the city provided a conducive environment for scorpions to spread, especially at this time of year.
