The Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Libya, Stephanie Williams, and the Minister of Justice, Halima Ibrahim, have stressed the importance to protect the integrity and independence of the judiciary.

This came during their meeting on Wednesday, during which Williams commended the Justice Ministry efforts on national reconciliation, human rights, and prison reforms.

“I also had the opportunity to hear from the Minister of Interior, Khaled Mazen about planning and preparations to secure the elections. We also discussed the overall security situation in Libya and ways the United Nations can support Libya’s security Institutions”, Williams tweeted.
