The UN Secretary General’s Advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, told CNN on Tuesday that Libya elections should be held before the end of June 2022.

Williams added that the only solution for the Libyan crisis is allowing Libyans to hold elections to practice their democratic right as soon as possible, saying the final say would be in their hands as the UN's role is just advisory without intervention in the political process or the candidates for elections.

"The end of June is the date for the end of the roadmap and thus Libya is expected to be plunged into political vacuum afterwards. This situation needs serious efforts to hold elections before June." Williams said.
