The former United Nations envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, confirmed that Libya has suffered from a state of crisis of legitimacy, one that can only be addressed and corrected through free and fair elections.

Williams stressed, during the Mediterranean Dialogues Forum, that Libya is a priority for the current United States administration, noting that merely two days ago, the UN Secretary-General said that these elections should be part of the solution, not part of a new and dangerous problem.

She said that Libya is a major priority for the USA, as proven by the dual mission of Ambassador and Envoy Richard Norland and the participation of Vice President Kamala Harris in the Paris Conference on Libya.
