The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of the increasing attacks on health facilities and medical personnel in Libya.

The WHO office in Libya said it had documented more than 41 attacks on health workers and facilities across the country during the 2018-2019 period, which resulted in the killing of six health workers and patients and injuring 35 others, the majority of whom were health workers.

About 75 percent of health facilities are closed or only partially functioning because of the ongoing political crisis, the organization noted.

It also reiterated its call on all parties to the conflict to respect the safety of health workers, health facilities, medical supplies and the inviolability of health care in general.
