The World Health Organization (WHO), on Sunday, called on the health authorities of Libya to be extra vigilant in the face of the serious health threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

WHO’s representative in Libya Elizabeth Hoff, said that now is not the time to become complacent, noting that the low numbers which are reported should not lull us into a false sense of security.

The organization recommended that an additional laboratory be established in southern Libya, advising that tests be expanded to include patients suffering from any illnesses mimicking influenza, or acute respiratory infections.
