The National Centre for Disease Control confirmed the reception of quantities of drugs for leishmaniasis treatment, from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The center's director Badr al-Din Najjar told the Libya Observer that the centre has received around 2500 of a 5ml dose which will be distributed to health centres in the affected areas.

"The amount received covers third of the patient's needs but this is only a temporary solution," Najar added.

The Centre for Disease Control announced the growing number of leishmaniasis cases in light of the failure of government efforts to provide treatment for the affected people.
