The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that the prolonged crisis in Libya had contributed to the rise in the number of people with leishmaniasis disease in the southern region of the country.

The organization clarified that it had managed to provide injections sufficient to treat around 30 patients, stressing that it will continue to provide the required support for treating the disease.

The WHO representative in Libya, Elizabeth Hoff explained that her organization will continue to work with the Ministry of Health, hospitals, and primary health care centres throughout Libya, in order to fill the critical supply gaps.
