The World Health Organization (WHO) has organized an extensive training program in Tunisia on leishmaniasis skin disease for seven Libyan doctors from the city of Tawergha.

The WHO considered leishmaniasis to be a public health problem in Libya, noting that the outbreak of the disease was reported among internally displaced persons from Tawergha, after their return to their city.

The organization also clarified that it had recorded a high prevalence of parasite, which requires special training on proper treatment, in order to prevent deformity, affirming that the trained team would be able to provide safe and good treatment for the people of Tawergha.
