The World Food Program (WFP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have launched initiatives to strengthen and support Libyan efforts to achieve sustainable development goals in eradicating hunger by the year 2030.

WFP representative, Samer Abdul Jaber has indicated that the WFP and FAO are working with communities and Libyan authorities on projects that would promote food security and build resilience, due to food insecurity caused by displacement, disruption of trade, and lack of food production, in light of the security unrest in Libya that has been on for eight years.
