The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has held the international community accountable for the persistence of conflict in Libya.

The Western African leaders stressed, "the international community can not continue to turn a blind eye to what is happening in Libya, therefore, it must rise to its responsibilities".

This was stated in the final communiqué of the emergency summit held by the leaders in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, on Saturday.

The summit focused mainly on ways to counter the growing threat of terrorist groups in the Sahel-Saharan States, according to AFP.
