Water was cut off from Tripoli and other cities on Monday, leaving thousands of people without running water amid a coronavirus outbreak.

The loss of supply was due to a power interruption in the eastern well field yesterday, according to the Man-made River Authority (MMRA).

"Electricity has been restored in the field and water will be pumped right away thanks to the technical team at the field who worked very hard, despite all logistical and security difficulties," MMRA said.

In a statement, MMRA said it expected water to be running back at homes by Tuesday.
