The US State Department has reaffirmed its support for the Libya Stability Initiative launched by the Government of National Unity (GNU) last June, and the international conference aimed at discussing this initiative on October 21.

Officials from the US State Department, including US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, Assistant Undersecretary for Near Eastern Affairs Bill Lambert, and Senior Adviser in the Ministry Dina Shahrukh reiterated Washington's support for the initiative during a meeting with Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush at the HQ of Libya's mission in New York.

They discussed the latest developments in the Libyan political arena, bilateral relations, and ways to develop prospects for cooperation between the two countries.

The US side stressed to Minister Al-Manqoush the importance of holding parliamentary and presidential elections on December 24 per the Berlin Conference outcomes.
