The surgical medical team at the Field Hospital of the National Heart Centre has conducted a successful surgical operation to a war-wounded patient who was in a life-threatening situation due to an injury he had sustained on the battlefield.

The shrapnel lacerated his abdomen and liver, and hurt very badly his foot, medical officials at the National Heart Centre said.

The patient is doing well after an hours-long surgery, in which doctors removed the fragments from his body, the hospital added.
