The head of the Central Committee for the Municipal Councils Elections, Salim bin Tahia, confirmed Wednesday, the start of preparations for the second Local Government Elections in Libya since 2014.

"The updating of voters registration for the new municipal elections has commenced on Wednesday in 68 municipalities," Bin Tahia said in a statement Wednesday, adding that the electoral process is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2019.

The Central Committee for the Municipal Councils Elections announced on December 5 that about 76 municipal councils in different regions of Libya would conclude its mandate during this year.
