Vice-President of the European Parliament, Fabio Castaldo has expressed Italy's willingness to play a role alongside Europe in order to prevent an escalation in Libya that may plunge the country into a spiral of violence, but in order to do so, the duplicity of some European Union partners; on top of them France, must be stopped, says Castaldo.
"This matter is crucial for any concerted efforts of European and non-European countries towards transferring Libya into a real state capable of controlling its borders once again, Castaldo told Italian "Nova" news agency.
When asked about the reconstruction of Libya, Castillo emphasized it is necessary first to reach a solid political solution to the conflict, "but this requires a genuine EU convergence without hypocrisy", as he put it.
