Washington's bilateral talks on evacuating mercenaries and foreign forces from Libya are moving in the right direction, says Acting US Assistant Secretary of State Joey Hood.

"Libyan people want to restore their sovereignty and control their country through the departure of all foreign forces, whether mercenaries or proxy fighters, regardless of the name," Hood said on Friday.

The senior State Department official expressed confidence that elections will take place as scheduled in December. 24, according to the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum and the UN Security Council resolution.
