The US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, stated that the year of 2021 witnessed many positive developments in the country, including the ceasefire in the country, which began since October 2020.

In a video message published by the US embassy, on Friday, Noraland wished all Libyans a happy new year, pointing out that the US shares the disappointment felt by many Libyans due to the postponement of the elections.

He explained that about 2.5 million Libyans have registered to vote and are waiting for the electoral process to take place, adding that Libyan leaders are working hard to try to reschedule realistic elections in an early time frame, saying "what we are all trying to do together is to build a better future for the Libyan children”.
