The regional spokesman for the US State Department Samuel, Werberg, has said that Washington and the international community find it difficult to see Saif al-Islam Gaddafi assume a government position in Libya.

Saif al-Islam is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and is subject to international sanctions, says Werberg, who added that his presence in power represents a challenge to any future Libyan government.

The US State Department official explained that the return of Gaddafi's son to the political scene poses a challenge to Libya's return to the international community, noting that this is not only Washington's position but rather the entire international community.
