The US President, Donald Trump, nominated foreign policy adviser to Joint Chiefs of Staff, Richard Norland, to be the next ambassador to Libya.

The US website "The Hill"; close to the American Congress said that Norland served as a former ambassador to Uzbekistan and Ukraine, as well as holding a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and the National War College.

The US State Department has confirmed its commitment to provide specific assistance to Libya, in order to support the political track and secure borders, the website added.
