The US Embassy in Libya has welcomed the participation of Libya, along with 11 Arab and European countries, in the Phoenix Express 22 Exercises.

"The maneuvers were to work together to enhance confidence between the participating countries by enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation," the embassy said in a tweet.

This year's edition of the maneuvers has seen the participation of 12 countries, including Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, the United States, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Spain and Malta. According to the statement of the US Sixth Fleet, the aim of this military exercise was to enhance cooperation and coordination among the Mediterranean countries in the field of information exchange and maritime safety. Tunisia hosted this year's maneuvers from May 21 to June 4.
