The United States has announced that it will participate in the Berlin conference scheduled to be held early next month to resolve the Libyan crisis, under the auspices of the United Nations.

"The United States is looking forward to participating in the next round of meetings in Berlin, under the auspices of UN Special Envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame," the US embassy tweeted.

For his part, Salame expressed his hope that the conference will lead to a UN Security Council resolution that would commit foreign powers to stop the war and establish a mechanism to enforce the arms embargo on Libya.
