The American Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, has expressed his country’s desire to appoint a successor to the head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Ghassan Salame, in order to resume the political, security and economic talks between the Libyan sides.

Norland thanked Salame for his efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis over the past two years, adding that he “skillfully” built the foundation, which peace seekers can use to assist in ending the conflict”.
