The US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland has emphasized the importance of reaching a "negotiated settlement" between the sides of the conflict in Libya, during his meeting with Khalifa Haftar on Tuesday, in Rajama HQ.

Norland stressed the need for all parties to commit to stopping escalation and arms embargoes, saying all parties should seek a political solution to the conflict.

He expressed his desire to visit the Libyan capital and to meet Prime Minister, Fayez al-Sarraj, referring at the same time to Haftar's declared commitment to the ceasefire.
