The United States Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, has held discussions with the chief of Egypt's General Intelligence Service (GIS), Abbas Kamel, in Cairo, on the ceasefire efforts in Libya.

Norland reiterated that Washington would continue in its efforts to involve participants from all of the varying parties to the Libyan conflict, both internally and externally, in an attempt to stop the fighting on a permanent basis, with the view of reaching a peaceful agreement in the country.

It was noted that Norland also met the Speaker of the Tobruk Parliament, Agila Saleh on Monday, also in Cairo, to discuss all recent developments on the Libyan situation.
