The United Nations Support Mission in Libya has welcomed the "positive response" by the Government of National Accord (GNA) and Haftar's militias to the calls for a humanitarian pause.

The mission expressed hope that the parties will cease hostilities immediately to allow national health authorities and its partners to respond to the potential threat of COVID-19 in the country.

"UNSMIL hopes this humanitarian pause would eventually lead to the approval by both Libyan parties’ leadership of the UN-facilitated draft ceasefire agreement," the UNSMIL tweeted.
