The United Nations Support Mission in Libya's (UNSMIL) Humanitarian Coordinator, Maria Ribeiro disclosed last Thursday that they were able to carry out their first mission in Derna for more than five years.

Ribeiro said they had conducted field visits to several locations in Derna and discussed with the Local Council officials and the Red Crescent; the humanitarian situation and the city's needs.

She also noted that the Mission had monitored the urgent need for the continued flow of basic social services to citizens; most notably, health care, protection, and psychological support, as well as water sanitation and electricity.
