The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has welcomed the reconciliation agreement signed between the cities of Misrata and Zintan.

The UNSMIL expressed their hope that this agreement will pave the way for positive relations of peace and cooperation between the two cities, adding on Twitter on Friday that they welcome all reconciliation initiatives aimed at restoring security and stability to the lives of the Libyans.

The city of Misrata witnessed on Thursday the signing of an agreement of reconciliation with representatives of the city of Zintan, with the text of the agreement containing several points, most importantly the emphasis on the adherence to the principles of the February 17th revolution and the support of security and military institutions provided that they are under a civilian government.
