The United Nations Support Mission in Libya, (UNSMIL), congratulated the members of several municipal councils and their mayors, who were recently elected in Ghat, Kikla and Misrata.
In a statement on Friday, the mission conveyed the congratulations of Acting Special Representative Stepanie Williams to the democratically elected mayors, wishing them every success in their undertaking to magnify the unity, social inclusion and economic welfare of its constituents.
Williams added that she encourages the newly elected mayors to practice inclusive participation in all forms of the decision-making process, whilst consciously ensuring the inclusive participation of women along with lesser represented groups, according to the statement.
