The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) emphasized the relevance of protecting the electoral process in Libya and preventing attacks on electoral facilities, as UNSMIL rejected all forms of election-related violence.

In a statement, the mission stressed that the attacks on judicial facilities, judicial personnel or elections are not just criminal acts punishable by Libyan law, but undermine the right of citizens to participate in the political process.

UNSMIL’s statement comes one day following warlord Haftar’s militia attacked the Sabha court to prevent Saif Gaddafi’s lawyer from challenging the decision to exclude him from the elections.
