UNICEF disclosed that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Libyan government on the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey to help countries fill gaps in human development, the situation of children and women in particular, and measure progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The UN organization added in a statement that conducting the study in Libya will provide the government and its partners with much-needed data for evidence-based planning, policy formulation and implementation, and will be a key factor for the country to measure its progress towards achieving the sustainable development goals, as well as directing strategic investments in the social sectors.
