The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Libya has said that the armed clashes that took place in the capital, Tripoli, early Saturday, have damaged at least four medical centers, including a maternity hospital.

In a statement published on its Twitter account, UNICEF stressed the need to protect civilians, medical facilities and individuals, as they are "not a target" of any armed conflict.

The Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity announced that the death toll from Saturday's clashes had risen to 23, and 140 wounded.
