The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) called on Tuesday the parties to the conflict in Libya to stop attacks on civilians and to distance children from the ongoing dispute, in line with their obligations under international humanitarian law.

The organization confirmed in a statement that it had received reports that children and women were among 43 people killed in the recent attack on the town of Murzuq, southwest of Tripoli.

An airstrike by Haftar's airforce on Murzuq left more than 100 people, between dead and wounded.
