The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) office in Libya has expressed concern about the continuing fighting in Libya, in light of the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the UNHCR spokesman Babar Baloch has said "Fighting has escalated despite the initial agreement on a humanitarian pause".

"The UNHCR is continuing efforts to urge parties in Libya to halt the fighting and allow response to the epidemic," Baloch added.

He noted that UNHCR has provided in cooperation with its regional partners some field equipment and mobile clinics to support the health sector in Libya.
