The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) disclosed that it had registered around 45,600 refugees and asylum seekers in Libya during this year.

The UNHCR called on the Libyan authorities to end the detention of migrants, expressing its readiness to support the authorities in this regard.

It also urged the international community to provide solutions in other safe countries for the refugees stranded in Libya.

It confirmed that its gathering and departure centre in Libya is currently hosting around 900 migrants, clarifying that they will be evacuated to the emergency transit centre in Rwanda, in the coming days.
